Wheelchair rugby is a mixed-team sport for male and female athletes. Also known as murderball, it is an exhilarating and inclusive sport created by athletes with disabilities, combining elements of basketball, rugby, and handball. Played on a basketball court, players compete in a team of four, using specially designed wheelchairs. The goal is to carry the ball across the opposing team's goal line while navigating tackles and defenses.
Wheelchair rugby is an established Paralympic sport, with 28 countries competing in international competitions and more than 10 others developing national programs.
